Calendrier de la Femme Marocaine - wall sculpture

This was inspired by a series of planning workshops with Moroccan village women. They were asked to draw a story illustrating their typical day. The figures in the carving illustrates these activities including collecting firewood, drawing water from the well, taking the goats to pasture, preparing meals, taking care of the children and then all going to sleep on one of the beautiful carpets that the women make. The numbers indicate the time of day when different activities take place. The gnarled branches in the center are the olive trees.
